The RTA has announced an extensive series of trips using water transport services for New Year’s Eve 2017 and this includes trips on the traditional abras as well as the popular trips on the Dubai Ferry.
Mansour Rahma Al Falasi, Director of Marine Transport at the Public Transport Agency, said: “This service is provided in the context of RTA’s ongoing engagement with customers. The RTA is stepping up efforts to offer a new marine transit experience availing riders a superb opportunity to live the thrilling moments of festivities at Burj Khalifa, Burj Al Arab, the Atlantis and Dubai Water Canal, through sea cruises aboard marine transit modes. The experience is bound to leave fond memories for residents, visitors and tourists.”
Abra trips start from the marine stations at Dubai Festival City, Al Jadaf and Al Ghubaiba at a fare of AED 125 per person, and are free of charge for infants less than two years.
Dubai Festival City is running lots of events and will have 4 separate firework displays at 9pm, 10pm, 11pm and midnight. There will also be lots of other activities and of course there are lots of restaurants on the waterfront where you can enjoy the events from, as well as taking a trip on an abra for the new year itself.
Al Jadaf is easily accessible from Dubai Creek Metro station on the green line.
Al Ghubaiba also has a Metro station of the same name very near by and gives access to the festivities that will be happening on the creek.
All of the abra trips will start at 10:30 pm and end at 01:30 am so that you have an evening on the water enjoying the spectacles of the New Year celebrations.
