The service will run between the hours of 4.00pm and 11.30pm for a trial period of 3 months from now.
You can pick up the abra service from the Sheikh Zayed Road Marine Transport station and it will take you on a tourist trip along the canal, passing the fountain under the bridge and returning to the Marine Transport Station.
The fare is 25 dirhams per rider (there will need to be a minimum of 8 riders for the abra service to run), or else you can hire the whole abra for an hour for 300 dirhams (with a maximum capacity of 20 riders).
This service has been added in order to enhance the tourist credentials of the Emirate and to provide more marine transport opportunities for riders.
Currently the Dubai Water Canal is still undergoing a lot of work and so it is anticipated (by us at dubai-abra.com) that initially the abra trips may only run at peak times when there will be 8 riders, unless it is chartered for the full hour, so it may well not be worth expecting it to run if only 2 or 3 of you go to experience a trip out of peak hours.
Don’t forget though that there is always the possibility of using the Dubai Ferry for a trip if you check out the timetable in advance.
